My Creative Space

This week my only sewing effort has been a notebook cover for a friends birthday. I love this material, its masculine and simple without being boring or at least that’s what I think :o)

It makes me a little sad that I haven’t done much sewing especially since I have a couple of idea that I would love to actually create but I have been super busy planning 3 parties (1 baby shower and 2 birthday parties) that will be happening over the next 4 weeks

A Chuggington Birthday

So I found this birthday a bit of a challenge, there isn’t much Chuggington party stuff around and even less in Australia but after looking around and getting some inspiration from the parts of Chuggington that Zachary loves I think I managed to make our little man very happy.

Decorations:I have posted my bunting before but I love it and had a ball making it. I used the main colours of Chuggington (Blue, Yellow, Red and Green) and put some Chuggington pictures on the flags at the start, end and in between the words

We also had a couple of train signs

Food: Lots of yummy goodies that had to be lactose free so some of the food I have made in the past for our parties was missing this time. Instead we had:

cupcakes with yellow, blue, greed and red icing,

Red, Green, Blue and Yellow Jelly cups

Homemade sausage rolls

Party Pies

Chicken nuggets

Chips

And a cheese platter for adults and kids alike

With fruit cordial for all to drink

This was all followed by…….

The Cake

Our little guest were given Thank you gifts for celebrating Zac’s 3rd birthday with us. I made them to look like parcels

and they were filled with lots of goodies including a colouring book I made with Chuggington images from all over the place

IMG_2910

and to finish them off I tied them with Jute String and put a tag on it that read “Thank you for coming to my Chuggington Birthday Party. I hope you have had an absa-toot-ly traintastic time”

IMG_2912

I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us and also to my Mother-In-Law for being such a big help as well as bringing me amazing rice pudding and homemade plum jam. I hope everyone had an absa-toot-ly traintastic time

A Boy Birthday Gift

Michael has been invited to his first Kindy birthday party and I have had a bit of difficulty coming up with a handmade gift for a boy. After consulting with my own research team (Michael, Zac and Louis) we came up with…

I have spent this week making train signs

(these are the only 2 I have finished) to go around the house during the party which has resulted in one very excited little Zac and the best part is they haven’t cost me anything. Yay for cheap but effective party decorations!

Cars 2 The Movie

We are in love with the Cars movie and everything Lightning McQueen in this house and with 2 young boys what house wouldn’t be. But Prince Zachary is a little but Cars mad and with his 3rd Birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. Around the same time Cars 2 is being release at the cinemas.

Its not very often that there is a movie that all 4 of us want to see but we are so excited and can’t wait for it to be release. But even more exciting Disney and Nuffnang are holding a promotion where you can win a family pass to see the movie. Check out the details here *EXCITED!!!*

Weird and Wonderful

Its taken me a while to think of 8 weird and wonderful things (that I was willing to share) but here you go…

I love combining sweet and salty food. I eat the chocolate off my choc bomb at the cinemas and dip it into my popcorn, dip my hot chips in my sundaes and put a square of chocolate on a chip and eat them together. This fact completely disgusts my husband :o)

I get a kick out of looking at my hands the morning after giving myself a mani and pedi and remembering how pretty they are.

I love all things girly, I own countless heals and dresses but always find myself putting on my jeans and ballet flats :o(

I hate talking on the telephone, always have. Even as a teenager when you are ‘supposed’ to talk to the phone for hours my brother was the one doing that while I would go visit my friends. I would rather send an email, go on facebook or talk to someone face to face.

I kill plants. I wish I was a fabulous gardener but I accept the fact that I just can’t keep anything alive. I am that bad that one year for Christmas my parents got me a garden plaque that say “I have a rock garden… Last week 3 of them died” :’o(

I love making things for other people but struggle to find even a gram of inspiration when I want to make something for myself and even put a sewing machine needle through my finger the last time I tried. (It’s actually quite frustrating)

I bake late at night I will quite often make a batch of brownies or cupcake late at night and then stay up and eat some before going to bed.

I love winter storms. I love snuggling up in bed or on the couch with a soft, warm blanket, sock, cozy PJ’s and a good book while outside the rain and wind go crazy. (this past week has been wonderful for me)

Linking up with the wonderfully beautiful Stacey at Blogs Tea & Me Have a look and join in with the rest of us weird and wonderful people :o)

Puppy PJ Pants

Michael chose some material about 6 months ago (more like sooked in Spotlight until I gave in and brought it) and I haven’t been able to decide what I was going to do with it…. until today.

Today I took a deep breath and made my first pair of PJ Pants (with no pattern)and he was one happy little man.
