Boo Boo :o(

So I have been working on a project for a couple of days and sat down today to finish it off and finally post something only to give myself a boo boo. I managed (don't ask me how because I am still trying to working out how I did it) to sew through the index finger of my left hand, breaking the machine needle off and leaving bits of thread in my finger.

So after a phone call to Healthdirect who informed me I should see a doctor within four hours and the After Hours Clinic who told me they didn't have the equipment to get the thread out and I would need to go to the ER. I took myself off to the hospital.

3 hours, a tetanus shot and some painful poking and prodding later I was home again feeling a little worse for wear and ready to go to bed, ignoring me unfinished project and the sewing machine that cause the hassle in the first place.

I have to tell you after the week I have had, including a trip to the After Hours Clinic on Sunday I am just about ready to pack it all in and hide myself away.

Praying for a better week next week!!!

Easter Holiday Projects–Day 1 Chocolate Balls

So I have decided that these school holidays, being our first, we are going to enjoy  them as much as possible and as such I am trying to plan something awesome for every day. A massive undertaking I know but with a little flexibility I think I can pull it off.

Until Easter I am doing a daily craft or cooking project with the boys and today we made chocolate balls. I know these have a proper name but for the life of me I can’t remember it. They are basically rum balls with no alcohol in them.

The boys had a blast crushing the biscuits (which I would normally do in the food processor but thought that boys would have more fun this way)

They mixed in the coconut, cocoa and sweetened condensed milk (YUM!!!!)

Man gift

Okay so I am trying to make as many gifts as possible this year but coming up with a gifts for guys is actually doing my head it. It’s been really hard but because of my awesomeness (LOL) I have managed to come up with a gift idea for a great friend of ours who’s birthday it is today.

So this is what I did

Downloaded some blank music paper from here

Used some cardboard and covered it with some material and using some more material bound the paper and covers.

Pretty & Mothers Day Classic

So I am feeling like something my cat coughed up at the moment, wishing my head would either explode or stop hurting, (either way is fine with me right this moment) but something that is making me feel a little better is the thought of using these

pretty colours for my next “Me” project.

Not sure when I am going to get around to it coz well I have a nasty habit of putting myself last (yeah I said it) but I really am looking forward to it.

On another note I am back to training after our holiday for the Mothers Day Classic. I would ask that you seriously consider sponsoring me for the 4km run and help raise vital funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation who support and promote research into breast cancer treatment and prevention.

My Creative Space

So March and April are huge birthday months for us which are only topped by June, July and August (the months Zac, Louis, Michael and I) because these are the months I get to plan the parties and I am busy making some birthday gifts for this weekend. So My Creative Space this week involves this material for the most snuggly funky blanket yet, the yellow is so so soft you just want to wrap yourself in it and ignore the rest of the world!!!

003

as well as the bias tape I made all by myself (YAY!!!) but I am also working on a design for another gift with these very cute fabrics

004

But it may actually send me dotty because I need to finish the design and actually get it made by 5pm tomorrow.

Can’t wait to finish this birthday gift

Hello Reality

Did you miss me?????

Louis and I have just spent an amazing 7 childfree days in Bali (I did miss them a lot more than I thought I would)

Where among other things I worked on my tan

045

Ate waaaaaaay too much food

Took a ride on an elephant through the jungle

309

Hung out with a bunch of monkeys (note the big one I had to bring him home with me hehehe ;o) love you honey)

398

And hugged a baby Orangutan

but we are back to reality with today being a work/school day and life in between all of that.

I have a dilemma though… A very special person in my life has a birthday coming up this weekend and I have been sitting here racking my brains, scouring the web looking for some kind of inspiration, some kind of creatable gift idea for a person who is very talented in the craft department and it as well as sleep is alluding me so I think I will just finish up this post asking…..

What do you make for someone who means the world to you when they could make it themselves????
